This is a retold picture book version of Mary Mapes Dodges' story about a boy who saved Holland from a flood that was included as a chapter in her 1865 book Hans Brinker, or The Silver Skates. In the story a boy discovers a tiny hole in the dyke, through which water is pouring. He plugs the hole with his finger and waits all night until he is found in the morning and the dyke is repaired.
