The discipline of divine guidance -- The discipline of suffering -- The discipline of peril -- The discipline of prayer -- The discipline of loneliness -- The discipline of patience.
Summary: Are you looking for encouragement in the midst of difficult circumstances? Have you ever wanted to better understand the events and experiences of your own life? Oswald Chambers offers just such encouragement and understanding as he explains how God uses six important disciplines to build strong Christian character and develop intimacy with you. Such disciplines are God's way of molding us, of capturing our attention so that we focus on Him and not on ourselves. They are His means for us to know Him. They are: Divine guidance and the childlike expectation we should have when we come to God for leading. Suffering, an expected part of the Christian life and an opportunity for God's glory to be revealed. Peril, and how our dependence on God makes us more available to His work. Prayer, an avenue to Christlikeness in its expectancy, relinquishment, and power. Loneliness, or solitude, an opporunity for intimate communion with God. Patience, an anchoring in God that holds us through the troubles and circumstances of the world.--From back cover.

Oswald Chambers was converted in his teen years by the ministry of Charles Spurgeon. Chambers studied art and archaeology before answering the call to Christian ministry. Author of the best-seller My Utmost for His Highest, Chambers has more than thirty other titles to his credit, all but one compiled by his wife, Gertrude.
