This book has been extracted from 'The Seceders (1828-1869) : the story of a spiritual awakening as told in the letters of Joseph Charles Philpot and of William Tiptaft, with an introduction by J.H. Philpot', volumes I and II, which was first published 1930-32. This book contains Dr J. H. Philpot's introduction to the original volumes, augmented in places with extracts from the letters. It was extracted by J. H. Philpot with help by S. F. Paul and J. H. Gosden, and with the cooperation of the Aged Pilgrims' Friend Society.

Includes bibliographic references and index.
