Ken Ham

Dr. Ken Ham is the president of Answers in Genesis USA and is a well-known speaker and author on the subject of Young-Earth Creationism. He received a bachelor degree in applied science (emphasis on environmental biology) from the Queensland Institute of Technology, and a Diploma of Education from the University of Queensland. He has also received two honorary doctorates: a Doctor of Divinity from Temple Baptist College, and a Doctor of Literature from Baptist Liberty University.

He was a director of Creation Science Foundation (CSF) in Australia, an organization which he jointly founded with John Mackay. In 1987 he moved to the United States, still maintaining his links with CSF.

From 1987 to 1993, Ham worked for the Institute for Creation Research, and in 1994 set up what in 1995 became Answers in Genesis (AiG), a creation ministry dedicated to "upholding the authority of the Bible from the very first verse."

In 2008 Ham was described by well known atheist and evolutionary biologist PZ Myers as a "Wackaloon" for carrying out a prayer session with members of the Pentagon. Ham responded regarding the validity of that prayer breakfastand that PZ Myers and other critics were intolerant of his position.

Australian born Ken Ham is the President of Answers in Genesis and The Creation Museum. He's a well-known apologist in his defense of a young earth. His book series The New Answers takes on tough questions concerning Creation/Evolution and the Bible.

In Book 4 of The New Answers Series, Ken Ham tackles bold subjects, such as the peppered moth debate, dragons as dinosaurs, Charles Darwin's soul, cavemen, abortion, living fossils, the big bang, climate change, Noah's ark, environmentalism, mutations, and more. Each chapter is carefully answered by numerous scientists in a precise and fact-filled manner. Diagrams, scales, and examples help visualize every factor presented by following recognizable data.

Being both a Christian and a believer in a young earth, I found The New Answers Book 4 to be an extremely good resource. The information gathered by Ken Ham strengthened my knowledge and answered a few of my own personal questions. How Noah's Ark was built, the canopy model theory, the dispersion from the tower of Babel, the Dasha Solution, and the ancient depictions of dragons, all of which were mentioned in these chapters: "Dragons... Were They Real?," "Cavemen... Really?," "What Are Some of the Best Evidences in Science of a Young Creation?," "What Is the State of the Canopy Model?," "Could Noah's Ark Have Been Made of Wood?," What about Creation, Flood, and Language Division Legends?," "What about Distant Starlight Models?," and "What about Design Arguments Like 'Irreducible Complexity?'"

Certain facts from the book amazed me with their fascinating points:

-The drawings of dragons by ancient civilizations around the world closely resemble certain dinosaurs.
-The fact that Neanderthals aren't always found in caves.
-Findings through genetics show Neanderthals and Denisovans were completely human.
-There's very little sediment on the seafloor.
-Bent rock layers in the Grand Canyon.
-Soft tissue discovered in fossils.

Ultimately, the book left me in awe of our Creator. God's designs are full of complexity, diversity, and creativity. You can see His handiwork everywhere you explore and in everything you discover.

I highly recommend The New Answers Book 4 to creationists, theistic evolutionists, and to some curious-minded evolutionists. It's an excellent book for teaching science to older homeschoolers.

This book was provided to me by New Leaf Publishing in exchange for my honest review.

These Answers books are good. However, after reading them all, they do feel all a little bit the same. There are some chapters that are engrosing and enjoyable. However, some, at least to me, go way over my head and my eyes gloss over a bit. These books are not for a basic understanding, but for a more in depth comprehension. Even with all the studies I do, some of it was a little tough to follow. But, I still learned a few things and I love how well they answer the questions, even if I am a bit confused!

I liked this one more than Answers Books 2 and 3. For my general thoughts on this series, see my review of Answers Book 1.

Several questions aren’t directly related to the creation and evolution debate (biological, geological, or cosmological evolution). Several deal with political issues such as climate change and environmentalism, or theological issues such as atheism and the image of God.

I liked the chapters What Are Some of the Best Evidences in Science of a Young Creation?, What about Beneficial Mutations?, and Is Speciation Evidence for Creation or Evolution?

Notes
Do Plants and Leaves Die?
The Hebrew word for "die" or "death" is used only in relation to humans and animals, not plants. Bacteria and fungi are probably also excluded from the Hebrew definition of alive.

Cavemen … Really?
Neanderthal DNA is 99.7% identical to modern humans. Approximately 80 genes differ. Neanderthals and Denisovans have less genetic difference from modern humans than two modern chip species have from each other.

What Did the Reformers Believe about the Age of the Earth?
The literal reading of Genesis 1 was supported by Luther, Calvin, Belgic Confession, Zanchi’s Confession of Faith, Irish Articles, Westminster Confession of Faith.

What Are Some of the Best Evidences in Science of a Young Creation?
1. Very little sediment on the seafloor
At present rate, the average 1300 feet would accumulate in under 12 million years.

2. Bent rock layers
Layers are bent and folded without fracturing, which can only happen with soft and pliable rock, not hardened rock.

3. Soft tissue in fossils
Example: T. Rex found in Hell Creek Formation in Montana.

4. Faint sun paradox
At present rate, sun would've warmed Earth to only 3°F 3.5 billion years ago, too cold for most life.

5. Rapidly decaying magnetic field
Field’s energy halves approximately every 1456 years, so Earth can't be older than 20,000 years.

6. Helium in radioactive rocks
Helium is present in zircon crystals even though it should've leaked out in under 100,000 years.

7. Carbon-14 in fossils, coal, diamonds
C-14 has been found in ancient fossils, coal, and diamonds, despite half-life of 5730 years. None should remain after a few hundred thousand years.

8. Short-lived comets
Given the loss rate, comets can only last a few million years. Their prevalence points to a young solar system. There's no evidence for suggested sources of new comets.

9. Very little salt in the sea
At today's rates, present sodium levels would be reached in 42 million years (62 million with most generous estimates). Earth is supposedly much older.

10. DNA in ancient bacteria
Lazarus bacteria (supposedly 250 million years old) have DNA very similar to modern bacteria, and the DNA was intact (even though it shouldn't last more than 1 million years).

What about Living Fossils?
Creation geologists believe Paleozoic represents early Flood, Mesozoic represents later Flood, and Cenozoic represents post-Flood. Pleistocene probably begins after Tower of Babel.

What Is the State of the Canopy Model?
The canopy model has several biblical and scientific problems.

"The necessity for a water-based canopy about the earth is not directly stated in the text. It is an interpretation of the text." The "waters above" could refer to clouds, or something in space.

Genesis 1:14 says sun, moon, stars were made "in the expanse," so it can't be part of Earth’s atmosphere. Genesis 1:20 says creatures flew "in the face of the expanse," so it probably includes aspects of the atmosphere and space.

A vapor canopy would have had a greenhouse effect that would result in too-high temperatures.

Longevity and the large size of many creatures before and after the Flood is better explained by genetics then a canopy.

What about Creation, Flood, and Language Division Legends?
Many cultures have legends of language division similar to the Tower of Babel, in addition to legends of creation and a flood.

What about Environmentalism?
When God calls creation "very good" in Genesis 1:31, "this does not entail that it was terminally perfect but that it was the perfect setting for man's probation and for his exercising the imago Dei [Image of God]."

What about Distant Starlight Models?
Potential solutions to the distant starlight problem include time dilation near Earth during creation week, acceleration of starlight on Day 4 (as plant development was accelerated on Day 3), and a miracle.

What about Beneficial Mutations?
Some mutations have beneficial outcomes in certain environments, but they don't lead to the origin of novel traits necessary for macroevolution. Beneficial mutations are alterations of pre-existing traits or losses of traits.

Sometimes genes fuse, but the genes are pre-existing, and no new functionality is introduced.

Gene duplication and subsequent mutation result in adaptation, not macroevolution. The functionality in the duplicated, mutated gene remains the same.

Is Speciation Evidence for Creation or Evolution?
Losing the ability to interbreed, "each new species would have less genetic variability, less ability to meet changes in its existing environment, and less ability to explore new environments - all suggesting decline and demise rather than the expansion of genetic potential."

"Speciation is moving in the wrong direction to support … molecules-to-man evolution. Speciation produces only variation within kinds as a result of the subdivision and/or alteration of pre-existing genetic variability."

Are Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) Wrong?
Genetic engineering can be defended by the Biblical examples of Jacobs artificial selection in Genesis 30, ram breeds in Deuteronomy 32:14, and Paul's grafting analogy in Romans 11.

"The number of actual scientific reports in the scientific literature is very small that say GMOs cause cancer or other disease."

The Image of God
Image of God includes ability to know, love, and worship God; to think, reason, and choose between right and wrong.

At the Fall, "the image of God was tarnished and broken … we remain rational, spiritual beings, but our rationality and spirituality no longer impart a true knowledge of God." Humanity "continues to reflect a unique dignity as God’s image-bearers that no other creature enjoys, but the dignity is damaged significantly by the consequences of sin."

Christ is called the image of God in 2 Corinthians 4:3-4, Colossians 1:15-16, Hebrews 1:1-3.

Salvation restores the image of God. Colossians 3:9-10, Romans 8:29, 1 Corinthians 15:49, 2 Corinthians 3:18.

Same as my review of the third book. Meh. A bit disappointing as by book #4 it gets VERY repetitive and dives so deep into topics that (at least to me) are completely unimportant. There was only a handful of chapters that were new topics in this one and I feel like there's so many questions around Christianity, it's frustrating how much material was reused from book 1 to 2 to 3 to 4. But still, I 100% recommend reading these books because the parts that are not super repetitive are very important and enlightening.

Another very good book in the Answers series. I read all four books one after the other so by the time I got to this one I did skip over some of the chapters that were very similar to the other books. The questions in this one that were different from previous books had answers similar to what I'd already formed in my own mind. All the books are wonderful and should be read by Christians.

About the Book:

What about climate change? Is there a connection between dragon legends and dinosaurs?

Is evolution the bloodiest religion ever?

What about cavemen?

What are the 10 best evidences for a young creation?

The Answers series has been a powerful tool in equipping believers to share and defend their faith. Now the newest book in this landmark series takes on hot button topics like climate change, ancient man, and many more. Too many people have walked away from their faith because they sought answers for what seemed a contradiction in Christian belief and scientific teaching. For those who desire a deeper walk and a thriving faith in the face of a growing cultural adversity, now find the answers to questions you have or others may use to genetic engineering, this powerful team of apologists is able to inspire you and those you know who may not yet believe.

About the Author:

Ken Ham is the president/CEO and founder of Answers in Genesis - U.S. and the highly acclaimed Creation Museum. Ken Ham is one of the most in-demand Christian speakers in North America. Ken’s emphasis is on the relevance and authority of the book of Genesis and how compromise on Genesis has opened a dangerous door regarding how the culture and church view biblical authority. His Australian accent, keen sense of humor, captivating stories, and exceptional PowerPoint illustrations have made him one of North America’s most effective Christian communicators.

My Review:

For generations it seems to me that the Creator receives less and less credit for creating us and the world around us. The New Answers Book 4, contains all you need to know and to defend this to others whether they are non believers or just ignorant to the fact of creationism. This book and the others in the series are excellent points of reference to have when your children may ask you questions that even you may not be sure of. Questions like the explanation of living fossils or maybe did dragons exist? There were many questions answered in the book that I haven't even thought of like 'how could Noah's ark be made of wood'?

These questions and many more like them have been answered in the book with scripture to back them up. Each question is thoroughly explained and researched. So alot of the questions you or anyone you know could possibly think of concerning creation, evolution and the Bible's stance on it can be learned from this book. The Atheists view point and how they do their best to even turn Bible believing Christians from what they have always believed and built trust in is explained and torn apart.

It has always been mystifying to me how we can be born into a world that was created by the Living God, yet not everyone believes that they have an ultimate Creator. I'm always baffled by it and really don't understand their viewpoint. Ken Ham has given the world a gift by first of all creating a museum based on Creation and by making and releasing products to back this up for those of us that love it and want to learn from it. We all need to be a little more brave in defending our faith and our Father and this book can help us do just that.

If you are interested in purchasing this book you can do so here. Its available in soft cover and ebook form.

A new answers book for a changing culture and changing climate...

Climate change in the origins debate, that is. In recent years, the emphasis of evolutionary humanists has shifted from defending evolution to offensively questioning and ridiculing creation and the Bible. I regularly hear claims such as," "Creation is religion and evolution is science," "Creation denies natural selection," "Transitional fossils disprove biblical creation," "Noah's Ark couldn't have possibly survived a worldwide flood," "A worldwide flood couldn't have laid down various, uniform rock layers," "Young-earth creation has no scientific evidence," and even "Dragon legends were really inspired by dinosaur fossils excavated by ancient paleontologists"! Meanwhile, coming from Capitol Hill is a push for support of climate-change prevention, abortion, "gay marriage", and a limited freedom of religion for Christians.

Yet, even in such times as these, Christians are faced with a command from Scripture to, "...always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear." But how are Christians supposed to give this defense? As this verse, 1 Peter 3:15, tells us, "But sanctify the Lord God in you hearts..." We must set God apart as first in our hearts, and hold His Word as our authority in all areas, including in this area of apologetics (giving a defense). This can be difficult, but fortunately, the Lord has greatly blessed His people with many wonderful resources to help equip Christians to have a biblical worldview and to defend their faith. The New Answers Book series, written by various scientists, theologians, and scholars (many who are professionals in their fields), and edited by world-renowned apologist and speaker Ken Ham, are some of the best resources ever published on the issue of creation vs. evolution and the Bible, and the latest addition, The New Answers Book 4, is no exception.

The New Answers Book 4 features new chapters on:
- Atheistic Devices
- Does the Gospel Depend on a Young Earth?
- Was Charles Darwin a Christian?
- Should There Really be a Debate between Science and the Bible?
- What Did the Reformers Believe about the Age of the Earth?
- Are There Transitional Forms in the Fossil Record?
- Could the Flood Cataclysm Deposit Uniform Sedimentary Rock Layers?
- Should We Be Concerned about Climate Change?
- Could Noah's Ark Have Been Made of Wood?
- What about Beneficial Mutations?
- What About the Hebrew Language and Genesis?
- Is Speciation Evidence for Creation or Evolution?
- and many, many more!

Beyond the wide variety of topics covered, Book 4 also features the same, easy-to-read format of its predecessors. Some things which I personally enjoyed about The New Answers Book 4 were:
- Its emphasis on biblical authority in all areas.
- The conciseness of each chapter.
- Its pick-up-and-read style, which makes it easy to get the answers you want at any time.
- The specific topic selection is focused on answering skepticism as well as updating the creation model.

All in all, The New Answers Book 4 is a great resource for those interested in defending the Christian faith, and for those who are seeking answers to questions about creation, evolution, and the Bible. Many thanks to New Leaf Publishing Group for providing me with a copy for review.

The interpretation of the Bible's account of Creation through the lens of science seems to be a popular thing amongst professing Christians nowadays. This is a very discouraging state of things, that Christians trust human observations before the Bible's declarations. That is one reason why this book is so refreshing as the authors hold to God's Word as the starting point and as the 'lens' with which to interpret their scientific observations.
The interpretation of the Bible's account of Creation through the lens of science seems to be a popular thing amongst professing Christians nowadays.

The New Answers book 4 by Ken Ham(editor) and many others, is full of chapters dealing with questions in regards to 'issues' that may come up in discussions about Creation, and is also great for simply perusing possible answers as to how certain things about Creation week might be explained. It is a compilation of several essays on various aspects of Creation written by several different people who are biased towards the Bible. The nice thing is that they do not make having answers to every question imperative, such as the chapters on Starlight. They make some suggestions as to how starlight could have been visible from earth immediately at Creation but make it clear that we don't have to know how, faith in what God's Word says is what is important, whether or not we understand it all. As one of the contributors wrote, "Interpretations of Scripture are Not Scripture….Keep in mind that it is the text that is inspired, not our interpretations of it."

Keep in mind that this is book 4 in the New Answers series so if you have questions that are not addressed in this volume they may be in the other books in this series. I have not read the other ones but, based on what this one is like, I believe that I can highly recommend all of them as they seem very biased towards what God says happened at Creation. I love that type of bias!!!

I'll end with an excerpt from the beginning of the book: "As soon as you surrender the Bible's authority in one area, you 'unlock a door' to do the same thing in other areas. Once the door of compromise is open, even if ajar just a little, subsequent generation push the door open wider. Ultimately, this compromise has been a major contributing factor in the loss of biblical authority in our Western world….…If one uses fallible dating methods to reinterpret Genesis (e.g., the days of creation), then one is 'unlocking a door,' so to speak, to teach others that they won't have to take the Bible as written (e.g., Genesis is historical narrative) a the beginning so why should one take it as written elsewhere (e.g., the bodily Resurrection of Christ). If one has to accept what secular scientists say about the age of the earth, evolution, etc., then why not reinterpret the Resurrection of Christ? After all, no secular scientist accepts that a human being can be raised from the dead, so maybe the Resurrection should be reinterpreted to mean just 'spiritual resurrection'."

I’ve always been able to count on Master Books (a division of New Leaf Publishing Group) to publish fascinating, cutting edge information in the area of Creation Science. The New Answers Book 4 did not disappoint. Edited by Ken Ham and written by many different scientists, The New Answers Book 4 addresses many questions relevant to scientific issues of today.

Chapter one is written by Ken Ham. Many of you may recognize him as being associated with Answers In Genesis. Some of you, even those who are Christians, may react with negative emotions when you hear or read his name. He’s taken quite a stand for what he believes, and many people don’t like it. Unfortunately though, if you have not taken the time to be exposed to him firsthand and instead have only heard things about him, you may have a very wrong impression. Chapter one was written to set at least one misunderstanding associated with his name straight: Does the Gospel depend on a young earth?

Whether you think the answer is yes or no, that question may raise your blood pressure a little. Ken Ham has been represented as claiming that belief in a young earth is the only way to salvation. Chapter one sets this misunderstanding to rest. Salvation is only found in Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which man must be saved. Ken Ham does NOT teach, nor believe, that you must believe in a young earth to be saved.

Having set that straight, he does point out the very true fact that all doctrines in the Bible, including salvation through Jesus Christ, are rooted in Genesis. That makes the issue of a young earth monumentally important.

Continuing on past chapter one, I found particularly interesting the answers to the following questions:

Were dragons real?
Was Charles Darwin a Christian?
Were there really cavemen?
Should there be a battle between science and the Bible?
What are the best evidences of a young earth?
Were people originally dumb brutes?
What about living fossils?
Are there transitional forms in the fossil record?
What about beneficial mutation?
Does embryology prove evolution?
Is speciation evidence for Creation or Evolution?

When I came to the question, Are Genetically Modified Organisms wrong?, I was disappointed by the answer. But mainly I was disappointed because it conflicted with the way I would answer it. However, I always welcome opposing viewpoints and enjoy getting other perspectives. This answer was written by Dr. Andrew Fabich who concluded that GMOs are not morally wrong. He further said that we just don’t have enough information on their effects to know if they are good or bad for us physically. Well, thanks Dr. Fabich, but I think I’ll avoid them for the next 50 years and let those who feel comfortable with being the guinea pigs fill that role.

Overall, The New Answers Book 4 was filled with great information by leading Creation scientists. It would be a great addition to anyone’s personal library.

I am grateful to New Leaf Publishing Group (www.nlpg.com) for providing me with a free copy of The New Answers Book 4 in exchange for an honest review of this book.

There are several subjects in the world which can ignite debate rather quickly. One of the prominent topics that can be found on that list is the subject of evolution. While some may claim that this debate is fueled only by the sides of Christians vs. non-Christians, the lines are not that distinct, as there are many non-Christians who profess non-evolutionary views, and even many Christians who believe that the earth evolved as part of Gods creation. But, whichever side of the debate you choose to stand on, Ken Ham and the organization Answers in Genesis have put together another book which addresses many questions that people have in connection with science, creation and the Biblical accounts of life and the issues it addresses.
The book I reviewed is the New Answers Book 4. This is the fourth in a series which contains articles, lectures and messages given in response to common questions that stem from the ongoing dialogue between creationists and evolutionists. Written by a series of authors, with a litany of credentials to support their expertise and experience, the book approaches each issue from the perspective of creation science and provides the reasons, scientifically, why the writers hold their viewpoints.
The New Answers Book 4 contains 33 chapters. The questions answered include, "Was Charles Darwin A Christian?", "What About Living Fossils?" and "How Big is the Universe?". There are too many others to list, but it is a wide variety of topics within the scientific community that are discussed within it's pages. I am not a very scientifically minded person, so I was lost at several points in what is probably simple language to most people in the field. But, I did find the book a very valuable resource and believe it will help you to understand the perspective of many issues from a creation science viewpoint, even if you do not agree.
I received this book for free through the Master's Books, a division of New Leaf Press Publishing Group, book review program for bloggers at nlpg.com. The views expressed are my own and I was not required to write a positive review. You may order the book at http://www.nlpg.com/new-answers-book-4 or preview the contents of The New Answers Book 4 at the link http://www.nlpg.com/downloads/dl/file.... In an age where many believe that creationists have no scientific validity for their convictions, The New Answers Book 4 will offer the reasonable, rational and relatable reasons for a radical faith in the God who created the world.

“….but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.” I Peter 3:15 ESV

Sometimes it’s hard to come up with answers to the questions that my children ask me – I can say “go read your Bible” or “God says so” but often times that isn’t enough and it’s not enough of an answer to really get to the heart of the matter and give them the meat they so need and deserve. So when I got the chance to receive The New Answers Book 4 that is edited by Ken Ham I knew I’d be able to read through and delve into some questions and their Biblical answers. There are many contributors to this book such as Don Landis, Bodie Hodge, Dr. Tommy Mitchell, Dr. Benjamin Shaw and many, many more knowledgeable people. Like the verse I quoted above there comes a time when Christians will be called to give a defense for our hope (our Faith) and sometimes, no matter how much we read the Bible, pray and seek godly counsel we still have no idea how to answer those who question us.

Due to that I’m so thankful that there are men and women who take the time to write thoughtful and Biblical answers to the questions that are posed to us such as was Noah’s ark really made of wood, or were cavemen as they are perceived, should there be a war between science and faith, are GMO’s wrong and more. You might surprised by some of the answers that come from years of research as well as Scriptural basis – yes science and the Bible do align! Some of the questions are bigger than those my children have asked, but are great for myself or my husband who have friends and family who believe differently than us and we need to give a defense without getting bent out of shape.

I recommend this book for Christians, who like me, have been asked why don’t I believe in the gap theory or the big bang or why I believe that there were dinosaurs on the Ark and that there was no death prior to Adam and Eve. There were a couple chapters that even this college educated, home school mom found challenging because of the technicalities involved such as how big is the universe, but the other chapters and their questions were well done that most lay people can easily understand it but also those who have engineering type of minds will get a lot from reading it. If you desire to learn more about what the Bible AND science has to say about issues in Christianity then this book will be of a huge benefit to keep on your bookshelf – as long as you read it!

Imagine a set of Bible encyclopedias. They are softback and much smaller than those old heavy encyclopedias but they contain just as much information. That's what I feel like the Answers Books are, Bible encyclopedias. The New Answers Book 4 answers more than 30 questions on Creation and the Bible. The general editor of this volume is Ken Ham and it is published by Masterbooks.

The kids and I have been studying Chapter 3: Dragons....Were They Real? These are the kind of questions that my kids ask me and I love having the research at my fingertips. If they kids are still interested in a subject or don't feel like they have all the answers then we can use this Answer Book as a starting point to further research. The charts, graphs, pictures, and information are clearly presented so it is easy to follow along. While there is a lot of scientific research in the book, it isn't a hard read. This is another terrific resource for families and homeschoolers to keep on the shelf. The volumes can be purchased individually or in a set.

These types of publications make me hopeful. There is so much buzz out there about the number of young adults that are choosing to walk away from Christianity. I have to believe that in large part this is due to a lack of communication about the tough questions. The world is constantly pressing in from all sides with "science" and persuasion against the Bible. As Christians we should all be arming ourselves with all of the information out there that supports creation and the great flood. Arm yourself!

I received a free copy of this book from Masterbooks for the purpose of review. All opinions are my own.

The News Answers Book 4 is a valuable reference resource to have in your home if you want to be able to have solid answers to refute evolutionary rhetoric. Broken down into 33 chapters, it reads more like an encyclopedia than a regular book which means you can just look up the topics that interest you or subjects for which you need/want answers. Pictures, charts, diagrams, and graphs help illustrate the topics being discussed.

A wide variety of topics are covered including, but not limited to:

*Science and the Bible
*Darwin and Christianity
*Dragons
*Cavemen
*The Canopy Model
*Environmentalism
*Mutations
*GMOs
*and many more….

While this series of books is geared towards teens and adults, younger children could benefit from reading the materials covered depending on their maturity level – especially if done in a homeschool, Sunday school, or family devotional setting. I didn’t feel that the materials presented were too complex, and the information was given in a clear and to-the-point manner. That being said, the Answers for Kids series is better suited for the younger set without the information being too watered down.

Round out your Biblical worldview library by adding The New Answers Book series to your collection. Each book in the series tackles important topics about scripture, science, creation, evolution…. all from a Biblical worldview.

The New Answers Book 4 by Ken Ham is in the series of "Answers" books by Master Books. It is a lengthy book, a good resource, filled with essays on different topics of interest to Christians and those curious about Christian beliefs. Some of the topics include: dragons, creation, the size of the universe, GMOs, the ark, mutations, and many more.

I tried to just read through this book, cover to cover, and frankly--it's a LOT to read straight through. I found myself putting off reading and not reading (which I really enjoy) because I felt guilty about not finishing this book yet :) I would suggest reading a chapter at a time at your leisure, or using this book as a reference, when questions come up, you'll have this to refer to and learn more about those topics.

I have read and reviewed Answers Books for Teens before, and for reading through, I prefer those :) However, this "big" Answers Book 4 is a good reference, with sources cited and plenty of thoughtful research to consider.

I WOULD recommend this book, to be used as a reference, or as a "slow" read -- to get the most out of it. I will keep it on the shelf for myself and my family to read as the need arises.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher for the purpose of this review. I was not required to write a positive review.

After four volumes, the NEW ANSWERS series is still going strong. Lots of good information here, and I was especially interested in being updated on the status of the pre-Flood "canopy model" and where we currently are in the whole "peppered moths" controversy.
The book covers a wide range of topics, from Richard Dawkins' new documentary to the morality of eating genetically-engineered food. Some essays seemed rather straight-forward and obvious, whereas others required a great deal of concentration for me to follow. One essay, I'm sorry to say, went over my head completely. It was an explanation of how scientists calculate the size of the universe, and unfortunately it involved a lot of math (which I suck at).
The NEW ANSWERS series is a great (I almost wrote "essential") reference for Christians who believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible, and the Book of Genesis in particular. All the essays included in this volume are based heavily in science, and all the authors' arguments are reasonable. Yet, since the authors clearly believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, and because they value Scripture over the imperfect theories of mankind, non-Christians are almost certain to write off this book as pure religious propaganda.
Which is too bad. Because a lot of the ideas proposed in this book are really quite exciting.

I recieved this book free in exchange for my honest opinion. I think the more we can learn about our Bible and world the more equipped we will be to face the world. There are so many times when my kids ask me a question or even a friend and I have no idea how to answer it. The New Answers Book 4 is one of those books that can help equip you to answer some tough and fun questions.

This book is brought to you by Ken Ham founder of Answers in Genesis. Once again I am thrilled by the support he brings to the questions. He works a lot with apologetics and this is something I always struggle with as I think many Christians do. This book is a step in the right direction.

We enjoyed going through several of the questions as a family! I think the favorite was from chapter 3. Dragons... Are they real? In this book there are several authors who write the chapters each having backgrounds in that particular field of study and they really give you the facts, and back it up with science and Bible scriptures. At the same time it is enjoyable to read.

I think this would be a great book for youth groups or even adult group studies, but it is also terrific on it's own or to go over with your own family!

As you can see from the title "The New Answers Book 4" by Ken Ham is the newest in is Answers books series that answers questions about creation & evolution and the Bible. This book this book is published by Master Books, a division of New Leaf Publishing Group. It answers such questions Dragons were they real, Should there really be a battle between Science and the Bible, and How big is the universe. It does not just give pat answers to the questions it delves into the Bible, history, and science for the answers. It uses science and the bible to prove the answers to peoples questions.

Very very informative book. It has a lovely amount of very detail information even schematics detailing the possible design of the ark. One of my favorite questions that was answered was "Have people always been brilliant or were they originally dumb brutes?". I will admit it was over whelming at times on the information but that is a good thing. However it is still a wonderful book and I would recommend to anyone with question on Creation/Evolution.

I was given this book by Master Books Publishing Group for my honest review.

I read New Answers Book 4, in exchange for review from New Leaf Publishing Group. The book starts out discussing Atheism. Ham discussed how Christians are adopting Atheism traditions in the home. Some traditions can include re-writing the scriptures; compromising on the biblical foundations of Genesis; and disbelief on some topics in the bible, such as Hell and the Resurrection.

I loved the chapter on cave men; science vs. religion; plants, and dragons. The dragon chapter was the most interesting. The bible mentions dragons, but over the years, dragons have gained mythical qualities.

Very good book. Each chapter deals with a different question. This is not light or easy reading. It's similar to a college (mostly science) textbook. I haven't read the first three yet, but I really want to after reading this one. I recommend it to anyone that is looking to learn but it's not at all like reading a novel.

This is a solid collection of essays on topics related to Genesis--emphasizing creation and the flood. The essays are meant to defend young earth creation in the face of atheism and evolutionary theories of science.

I enjoyed most of the essays and found them persuasive.
