Good look at God's dealings with man across the period of the Bible it's covering; it worked really well for my daily devotions, especially for some of the more difficult parts of the Bible. It had a really good Christocentric focus, but had a tendency perhaps to emphasize it too much at the expense of other important parts of Scripture. It's important to see Christ working through men, but I feel like De Graaf undervalued the importance of the examples of certain men too much. Overall, though, it worked well for my devotions.
The whole book is amazing, but the sections on Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther are pure gold. The fundamental key of De Graaf's hermeneutic is that Scripture is God's self-revelation. Self-revelation is grace and all of God's grace is mediated through Christ the Redeemer. Hence, Christ is the 'star' of all the stories. The humans actors are simply the backdrop for God's story. History is His story.
