This is an awesome book. I learned so much about the stars and planets. It is amazing, the incredible, vast universe that God has created. I am discovering more and more brilliant scientists who can show proof that many secular beliefs are erroneous. These secular assumptions are presented as fact and yet they have never been proven.

In Psalm 19, the Psalmist declares, "The heavens declare the Glory of God." In "Astronomy and the Bible: Questions and Answers" Donald B. DeYoung provides answers to common questions in Astronomy. One cannot read this book without getting a clearer picture of God's glory. The universe in which we live was clearly designed, and DeYoung provides evidence upon evidence of God's creative design of the universe.

As a professor of Astronomy, DeYoung has answered many questions. This book compiles many of the common questions that DeYoung has answered in the classroom. The book is written at a popular level and is informative without being overly technical. Thus, this would be a perfect book for a young person to read, or for a homeschool student who is interested in Astronomy, or a family who wishes to study the vast creativeness of God's creation.

Most importantly, this book will make you think. It will make you think about the scientific principles on which our world operates. But this book will also make you reflect on the uniqueness of Earth and man's part in it. This book will cause you to reflect on the reality of God's glory, and it will cause you to worship the God of the universe, who created you and me and everything around us by the power of His word out of nothing. Happy reading!

This was a very informative read. It's separated into all sorts of sections posing different questions so it doesn't even have to be read in order. Definitely worth reading esp will all that's currently out there posing evolutionary ideas as fact.

Good answers, but I admit it got a bit boring or hard to follow at times.

Unintentionally hilarious. I was given this quasi-scientific religious mashup by a well-meaning relative, trying valiantly to sneak some of the good news into my otherwise secular fascination with astronomy.

And if the whole premise of this book isn't wacky and/or heart-wrenchingly tragic enough, get ready to be bombarded by transcendental nuggets like these:

Is the earth's temperature changing? -

"Which idea is the correct one for the earth's future, a warming or a cooling trend? Most likely neither of the opposing conditions will occur, and our stable climate will continue. Regarding carbon dioxide levels, the Creator has built strong controls into the earth's atmosphere and seas that counterbalance the buildup of chemicals."

How old is the universe? -

"The figure of 8 to 15 billion years is probably only temporary. As new dating techniques are perfected, the extreme-age scientists may change their estimated time scale of history to 15 thousand years or even 15 trillion years. And where does this open-ended question leave the unchanging Scripture?"

What are UFOs? -

"A possible origin of UFOs is the demonic world. The Bible records that Satan is able to deceive men by many schemes and can disguise himself as an angel of light . . . Satan may be trying to provide false evidence in support of evolution in space. Flying saucers lead naturally to such thinking."

This a great book to learn the basic arguments for the evidence of the Creator when it comes to the subject of Astronomy. The only complaint I have against this book is that it veers off into some theological issues that are not totally agreed upon (like dispensationalism) vise just giving the evidence.

Great little book for amateur astronomers wanting to reconcile what secular scientists have hypothesized versus what absolute truth says about the created universe. Well thought out explanations are simple to grasp without being preachy. open minded scholars will enjoy.
