These stories for children are the real life experiences of the author. He was chosen to settle a nomadic tribe of Aborigines, the Nunggabuyu people, in their own tribal country, Numbulwar, at the mouth of the Rose River. The drought in Northern Australia in 1952 caused largely by the failure of the Monsoons during the previous wet season, forced their removal from the Roper River area. Numbulwar provided plentiful subteranean water.
The second volume of these stories draws on the every-day experiences of that time among the Nunggubuyu people and has an application which is designed to "train up a child in the way he should go."--Back cover.
About the author: John Mercer was converted to Christ at age 19. He trained for missionary service at the Melbourne Bible Institute, served in North Australia from 1951 to 1963 with CMS. After theological training in Ormond College he served in Presbyterian churches in Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland, Canberra and Sydney. He retired in 1990.--Back cover.
